m.Net Corporation announced today that it is partnering with the
University of Melbourne to carry out the World Mobile Internet Survey
(WMIS) in Australia.
A team from m.Net’s research arm will collaborate with the University of Melbourne and WMIS representatives to carry out the survey in Australia. Together with the University of Melbourne, m.Net will manage the data collection, analysis and reporting of the results. The WMIS conducts an annual global survey to explore customer behaviour and the market environment for mobile Internet business around the world. “This project has been running since 2000 and produced significant outcomes in the mobile Internet arena. This is the first time it will be run in Australia” said m.Net Research Director Dr Marisa Maio Mackay. Participants in this international project come from 11 countries including USA, Finland, Greece, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea and Australia. m.Net Corporation CEO Horden Wiltshire acknowledged the current lack of available information about the personal mobile phone user. “We are excited about being part of such a constructive industry initiative,” Mr Wiltshire said. “We are committed to working with the WMIS to help address this information deficit and we look forward to the research outcomes, which no doubt will offer industry players a better understanding of the personal mobile phone user and their evolving needs.” |
